Swansea Community Energy & Enterprise Scheme (SCEES)
2018 saw the launch of the first SCEES Community Benefit Fund. For the first year of the fund SCEES decided that funds should be available to the nine host schools:
- £500 was available to each school
- £1000 was available to the best idea submitted
- School were free to decide on how these funds were to be spent (PTA/Governors/Eco-Committee)
- The funding could not be used to cover general school running costs
- Any money granted had to be related to Energy or Enterprise and within 1 mile radius of the school
SCEES supported 5 fantastic projects at Cadle, Gendros, Townhill, Dylan Thomas and Gors. Most of these were related to funding equipment, tools and seeds to help expanding school food growing initiatives with two schools also linking this to selling produce both at school and giving surplus to parents and the local community centre. Other initiatives included a sustainable transport system whereby parents and children can hire scooters to replace car journeys to and from school.
